Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman today released June local unemployment rates that showed seasonal increases in rates over the month, while showing improvement over the year.
“Wisconsin’s labor market figures from June reflect normal seasonal workforce surges from students looking for summer jobs resulting in an expected bump in unemployment figures for the month,” said Gassman. “Despite seasonal increases in rates for many counties, the majority of Wisconsin counties and metro areas show lower rates than at this time last year.”
Wisconsin’s June unemployment was 4.9 percent, up from 4.2 percent in May but down from 5.1 percent in June 2007.
