Air Wisconsin facing EEOC lawsuit

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit Friday against Air Wisconsin after it claims the airline allowed harassment to continue against two employees at an airport in Sioux Falls, S.D.

A previous lawsuit, filed in March 2007 and still pending, alleges that a female customer service agent was harassed by male coworkers. One of the men involved was fired and one was disciplined, said EEOC attorney Jean Kamp.

The second suit claims retaliatory threats continued despite internal complaints, and a second female employee was also harassed and then fired. The EEOC has filed a motion to try the two cases together in South Dakota federal district court.

A spokeswoman from Air Wisconsin, based in Appleton, said the company “strongly disagrees with the EEOC’s decision to pursue the allegations.” The company provides regional commuter services to larger airlines.
