In the (un)frozen tundra, the Tundra Tailgate Zone

The Green Bay Packers Thursday unveiled the newest addition to Packers training camp at Lambeau Field: the Tundra Tailgate Zone.

A free attraction at camp, the 46,000-square foot area in the parking lot on the stadium’s east side, which includes three climate-controlled tents, will house an entertainment area with a main stage, the Kemps Packers Experience, and a food and beverage area.

“We’re excited to enhance our training camp experience with the Tundra Tailgate Zone,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “Attending training camp is among the most enjoyable experiences for a Packers fan, and we’re committed to improving it. The Tundra Tailgate Zone and its features will add to the festive environment that exists between Clarke Hinkle Field and Lambeau Field.”

The new area will make its debut at the July 24 Green Bay Packers Annual Meeting of Shareholders, hosting an exclusive tailgate party for Shareholders attending the meeting. It then will be open for training camp from July 28 through Aug. 20, with occasional closings based on the team’s practice schedule, games, etc.

The main feature of the Tundra Tailgate Zone will be scheduled activities on the main stage, including player autograph sessions for younger fans, alumni autograph and question-and-answer sessions, special guest speeches, jersey giveaways, live bands and other performances. The activities will be scheduled for appropriate times before or after team practices.

Expected to be among the most popular main stage activities will be the “Future Lambeau Leapers,” a continuation of the autograph program designed specifically for fans ages 12 and younger.

Other special attractions will include taping of Packers TV shows, the Mike McCarthy Show and Packers Training Camp Special. The Packers’ flagship radio station, WTMJ (620 AM), also will be on hand for live remotes during camp.

The Kemps Packers Experience will be the new home of the activity area for younger Packers fans that has been a popular staple of training camp for years. Young fans can enjoy inflatable football games and participate in several skills challenges.

The food and beverage area will offer an array of choices, including favorite tailgate-type foods fans can expect to find at Lambeau Field, as well as many other offerings.

The Tundra Tailgate Zone also will be utilized during the regular season, with more details available near the end of training camp.

A full schedule for the Tundra Tailgate Zone highlighting all its options is available online at www.packerstrainingcamp.com. The Web site also features an all-encompassing visitors’ guide to training camp. Daily practice schedules and information about other attractions at Lambeau Field are available, including the Packers Pro Shop, Packers Hall of Fame, Lambeau Field Stadium Tours and dining options.
