New North diversity award applications accepted

The New North, Inc. is now accepting applications for the 2008 People, Possibilities, and Progress Diversity Award, sponsored by Kimberly–Clark.

The award recognizes companies in Northeast Wisconsin that have demonstrated a commitment to embracing diversity through management, marketing, and vendor selection practices, as well as community leadership and company values.

“This award is a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the companies in the New North that are truly committed to diversity,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc. “With so many companies in the region that have great work environments and outstanding business practices, we’re looking forward to evaluating this year’s nominees.”

This year’s award is the second annual for the New North. In 2007, Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin received the honor for its efforts to attract, retain, and recruit a diverse workforce. Appleton, Wisconsin Public Service, and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College were the other three finalists for the award.

The submission deadline is Oct. 15, and the 2008 award winner will be announced at the annual New North Summit Dec. 8.

Companies of all sizes in all industries are eligible and encouraged to apply. For more information, or to download an application, please visit www.thenewnorth.com.
