172 scheduled to open this week; 41/Hickory project to begin

This week’s road construction update from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation includes:

Brown County: Lane restrictions are expected to end on Wisconsin 172 between Airport Drive and U.S. 41 on Friday. U.S. 141 (Main Street) is restricted to one lane between Baird Street and Abrams Street. Brown County JJ (Eaton Road) remains closed between Manitowoc Road and Brown County EA through November, and Dousman Street remains closed between Military Avenue and Platten Street through August.

Calumet County: The U.S. 10/Calumet County N roundabout project begins this week. The detour for 10 is Wisconsin 114 and 55. The detour for N is 114, Wisconsin 55 and Calumet County KK. The 10/55, 55/114 and 114/State Park Road intersections will temporarily have all-way stop signs.

Fond du Lac County: Work begins Tuesday on the U.S. 41/Hickory Street interchange, including the reconstruction of the Hickory Street bridge and the Canadian National/Fox Valley and Western Railroad bridge over 41, construction of a Wild Goose State Trail pedestrian bridge over 41, reconstruction of the intersection of Hickory Street and Rolling Meadows Drive, and construction and realignment of several railroad tracks in the area. The 41/Hickory Street interchange will be closed from Tuesday through Nov. 20, 1999. Alternate access to 41 is at U.S. 151 South (Military Road). Lane closures on 41 will occur daily between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Work on the 41/Wisconsin 23 interchange will resume this week.

Manitowoc County: Wisconsin 310 (Madison Street and 16th Street) in Two Rivers is expected to open to traffic Friday. U.S. 10 (Eighth Street) in Manitowoc remains closed between Madison Street and Washington Street.

Marinette County: Traffic on southbound U.S. 41 will be switching to northbound lanes between Marinette County Y and Haynes Road.

Marquette County: Daytime lane closures will continue on Interstate 39 between the Marquette–Columbia county line and Westfield for centerline improvements through Friday. Wisconsin 23 is closed between Marquette County M and Ninth Avenue through late August; the detour is I–39, Wisconsin 21 and Wisconsin 22.

Outagamie County:
Outagamie County S (Ballard Road) will be closed for five working days as part of the Ballard Park-and-Ride expansion project. Wisconsin 76 remains closed between Wisconsin 54 and Bear Creek. Wisconsin 55 (Crooks Avenue) in Kaukauna remains closed between 18th Street and Seventh Street.

Shawano County: Wisconsin 22 is closed between Wisconsin 156 in Waupaca County and Wisconsin 29 for the Embarrass River bridge project. The detour is Wisconsin 156, Shawano County K and Wisconsin 29. U.S. 45 between 29 and the Shawano–Langlade county line has lane closures through late October.

Sheboygan County:
Sheboygan County V remains closed between Wisconsin 57 and Sheboygan County I through September.

Waupaca County:
The Wisconsin 22/54 bypass project is continuing, including construction of a roundabout between Godfrey Drive and Royalton Street. Resurfacing is taking place on Wisconsin 22 between the Waupaca–Portage county line and U.S. 10 through late August.

Winnebago County:
Oakwood Road in the Town of Algoma is closed from Winnebago County E (Witzel Avenue) to Wisconsin 21 (Omro Road) through October for four-lane expansion. U.S. 45 remains closed between Winnebago County II in Winchester to Wisconsin 116/Winnebago County GG until the end of August.
