Ballard Park-and-Ride lot closing for expansion

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Regional Office in Green Bay is announcing the existing Park and Ride lot at the U.S. 41/Ballard Road interchange in Appleton is being significantly expanded.

This lot is scheduled to be closed beginning Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. No vehicles will be allowed to park in this lot while improvements are made. The lot will reopen by mid-September.

The Park and Ride lot currently accommodates 40 vehicles. When completed, the Park and Ride will provide 142 vehicle stalls, a bicycle rack for 11 bicycles, and overnight lighting.

Adjacent roads will remain open to traffic during construction. Project cost is estimated at $350,000.

Users will need to make alternative parking plans during the time of lot closure. One suggested alternative is at County N and U.S. 41. The city of Appleton has street reconstruction projects in the area during the same time frame. No on-street parking will be allowed on Gateway Drive, Enterprise Avenue and Lightning Drive.
