Wisconsin Public Service Corp. and the state Attorney General’s office have settled a lawsuit alleging the company’s coal-fired power plant near Wausau exceeded its air pollution limits between 2004 and 2007.

The Green Bay utility will pay penalties and fees totaling $225,000 and will also pay $250,000 to the Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corp. That money will be spent on “one or more energy conservation/energy efficiency projects” in north central Wisconsin.

WPS is a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group Inc. (TEG).
