The founder of Appleton-based Air Wisconsin Airlines Corp. has been elected to the board of directors of AirTran Holdings Inc., it was announced today.
Orlando, Fla.-based AirTran Holdings, parent of AirTran Airways Inc., named Geoffrey Crowley to its board. Crowley is president of Northshore Leasing of Appleton and previously was chairman, president and CEO of Air Wisconsin, which provides regional commuter services to larger airlines.
AirTran Holdings last year mounted an unsuccessful hostile takeover attempt of Midwest Air Group Inc., parent of Midwest Airlines Inc.
