Two area companies are two of the 10 upper Midwest finalists for the annual Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Ariens Co. of Chilton was honored for successfully facing Chinese competition by adopting lean manufacturing methods. As a result, Ariens' sales have doubled since 1998 and productivity has increased 15 percent.
Menasha Corp. was honored for restructuring its business in the past four years, creating seven startups, acquiring nine companies, restructuring 10 subsidiaries and closing three divisions.
The 10 winners are competing in Ernst & Young's national Entrepreneur of the Year contest, the winner of which will be announced in November.
